        JAPANESE CULTURE

There are numerous nations in the world, and each of them has their own cultures.Yet, I am interested in Japanese culture.Most cultures lose their qualities and change. However,the japanese culture is original. The reason of this may be geographical factors. Japan is an island and is not affected by other cultures , so its culture is idiocratical, and I want to mention about some information related to Japanese culture. Firstly, traditional japanese clothing distinquishes Japan from all other countries around the world. The japanese word kimono means 'something one year' and they are the traditional garments of Japan. Also, Kimonos come in a variety of colours, styles, and sizes. Men mainly wear darker or more muted colors, while women tend to wear brighter colors and pastels, and, especially for younger women, often with complicated abstract or floral patterns.I think that kimono is  very beautiful and eye-catching. Secondly,through a long culinary past, the Japanese have developed sophisticated and refined cuisine .In recent years , Japanese food has become popular in the United  States, Europe and many other areas.Dishes such as sushi ,tempura and teriyaki are some of the foods that are commonly known.The Japanese diet consists of rice,fresh, lean seafoods, and  pickled or boiled vegetables.The healthy Japanese diet is often believed to be related to the longevity of Japanese people. Thirdly, Japanese is the official and primary language of Japan. Japanese is written with a combination of three scripts: hiragana, derived from the Chinese cursive scripts,katakana derived as shortland from Chinese characters and kanji,imported from China.The Hindu-Arabic numerals are generally used for numbers, but traditional Sino-Japanese numerals are also common.Last year, I tried to study japenese.It was really difficult.I wish I could speak japanese.To conclude, I like this culture so much.

                                                                        THE PERSON OF THE YEAR :ACUN ILICALI

Hello, everyone.I am a jury in a committee which is choosing the man of the year.I want to choose aTurkısh guy due to some reasons like his successful career. He is Acun Ilıcalı.He has a successful career.He is a reporter and maker.When he was a reporter in Beşiktaş, he was able to be very close with footballers.He was in the ascendent.Then, he was transferred to Şansal Büyüka’s team.While Televole was a sport magazine , he started to report his own programme.In this way, he had an opportuntiy to globetrot.In 2002, he continued to report this program as Acun Firarda.He travelled about 105 countries within the scope of this project.In 2005, he  established a production company called as Acun Media.He has projected many programmes.These are Fear Factor, Survivor, Var Mısın Yok Musun, Devler Ligi, Yetenek Sizsiniz, Yok Böyle Dans and O Ses Türkiye.In these programmes,he persuaded  popular people from both music and art world to be a jury or competitor.Also, he hosted  Adriana Lima and 50 Cent for his programme ‘ Var Mısın , Yok Musun.His programmes are the most watched ones of the year. He is really successful and creative in broadcasting.He knows how to catch spectators’s attention These days, he has become a media boss.He has bought  TV8 which was a news channel.He has been changing its formate.He is planning an entertainment channel.I think that this news format will be better than the previous one.The channel will be watched more.As I state above , I think that he should  be the person of the year.

BOB MARLEY : DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY

Whenever I feel upset, I listen to Bob Marley’s songs.Especially,the song ‘ dont worry, be happy’ is really relaxing for me.You can listen to this song from the video.In this song, Bob marley says that in every life we have some troubles.When you worry, you make it double.Don’t worry , be happy now.He uses this remark very often in the song.I think that It makes people comfort.Then, he gives some examples related to  troubles in our life.According to him, you may pay the rent late and have to litagate.You may have not money or a girlfrend who amuses you.He says that you shouldnt frown your face in these situations because you will bring everybody down.Also, he says that he gives his phone number in order to make you amuse when you are worried.The existion of a friend who can make you relax when you are upset and worried is  really nice and beneficial for everyone.Therefore, I like this song so much.Thanks to this song, I can learn to be happy even if  the situation is terrible and devastating .I know that It will soon pass.I suggest everyone to listen this song.İt will change their bad mood.

Reflection Task 1b

           MY IDOL
There is a special and important person for most people. It may be a popular person or

a best friend.Whoever the person is, he/she has a significant role in people’s life.Hence, I

want to talk about my special person.It may be nonsense for most of you, but I admire to him.

He is Kerem Bursin.Firstly, I want to mention about his life.When he was 10-month-old, he and his family moved into Scotland.Then. they moved into Indonesia.After they had lived there for  a while,they moved into Dubai.Then, he lived in Texas until he graduated from high school.I think it is a very admirable life.His journey  hadn’t finished yet , and he went to Boston for his university education.He studied at Emerson College in Boston.Kerem Bursin, who always has a interest for acting, moved into

Los Angeles after he had  finished his education.He came to light by maker Roger Corman.He acted Roger Corman’s films such as Sharktopus and Ghost Of The Imperial Palace.Also, he took acting training from Carolyn Pickman and Eric Morris.He has a good command of English, and he can speak French reasonably.Now he lives in Turkey.He acts a TV series known as Güneşi Beklerken.It is myfavorite  series in Turkey.I am look forward to watching it every week.By the way, he has many different hobbies.These are horseriding,swimming,American football, basketball, tennis and lakros.He has travelled to many countries and lived there.Also,He is a real sportman.It is difficult to meet with a person like him.Thus, he is my idol, and I wanted to talk about him.

PARALLELISM

1. Our beagle loves to hunt. When someone opens the back door for her, she barrels down porch steps into the yard and runs back and forth across the lawn in ecstasy.  Her nose cruises the wet grass for smells.  These are smells of cats, rabbit smells, and other presences too subtle for human detection.  She sniffs and spins her tail in quick circles.Firstly It spins clockwise  and then counterclockwise.  These two activities always occur together.  They are sniffing and spinning.  They seem to propel her along.

1 .Because Grace is a vegetarian, she must pay attention to the amount of protein in the food she eats ,  so she eats a lots of beans and eggs.

2. When Grace first became a vegetarian, she missed eating meat since she had always liked the food she eats,Yet , she eats a lot of beans and eggs.

3.When Grace first became a vegetarian, she missed eating meat because she had always liked  the taste of it.Since she has grown to appreciate the pure taste of meatless cuisine, she can not imagine eating meat.Meat tastes  very strange to her, so  she is happy to be a vegetarian.

4.Sometimes it is difficult to eat out in restaurants due to the limited meatless choices on menus, but that is changing now with the increase in vegetarian restaurants.

5.Grace is opposed to the killing of animals.She is not only a vegetarian but she is also very disturbed by the use of animals fur for clothing.

6.She feels better now that  she does not eat meat anymore.She feels more humane and healthier.

7.Being a vegetarian and feeling that she is doing her share to protect animals, Grace becomes irritated when people question her motives for being a vegetarian.Although she tries to be patient with such people and makes them understand  the value of saving animals, people often just do not understand.
